Champagne Saber Wooden Wine Set

This unique method of opening champagne known as Sabrage, originated from the cavalry tradition in Napoleon’s army in France in the 18th century. It was passed down by opening champagne with a saber to celebrate when the cavalry returned triumphantly. This ancient form of champagne bottle opening has not changed much over the centuries, the saber has been modified to a smaller size, but it remains a specialized champagne opener, carrying a certain level of ceremony and tradition. Sabrage’s risk level is relatively high, and if you don’t pay attention to it, you will hurt others and yourself. Therefore, before practicing sabrage, please pay attention to following points:

1. If you are a newer, remember to find a bottle of ordinary sparkling wine to practice, never with champagne.

2. When others are watching,they will automatically retreat to safe distance,especially do not stand directly in front of the opener.Because the accidents may occur during the opening,such as the stopper suddenly ejecting,the champagne bottler splitting or the bottle falling to the ground.

3. It is best to prepare a soft cloth or gloves to protect fingers from cuts or injuries caused by the blade or broken bottles.Additionally,to enhance safety,tie a cloth or bandage between the hand-holding bottle body and the part that will be cut off  to prevent the stopper and bottle opening from flying out and causing harm.

Here are the steps for opening champagne:

1.Try to put the champagne into the fridge for 2hours before opening to prevent excessive wine from spilling out during the uncorking process,which could waste it.However,if the uncorking is part of an outdoor performance,gently shake bottle before uncorking to create a more dramatic effect as the wine sprays out.

2.Use a clean and soft cloth to wipe away any condensation to prevent the bottle from slipping from your hand.Carefully remove the iron wire cage and the tin seal paper from the cork.

3.Tear the tin seal and find the welding marks on the bottle. It extends from the bottle body to the mouth of the bottle, Champagne bottles are reinforced for safety and durability, so they are made in two halves and fused together. This creates a welding mark, which is the most fragile part of the bottle. Identify it and position it upwards.

4.Hold the bottle with your left hand and tilt it 45 degrees, and quickly cut the knife along the direction of the bottleneck to the joint welding thread that has been found in advance at the mouth of the bottle. Then, hold the Sabre in your right hand and slide it up the bottleneck along the bottle, peeling off the mouth and corks.
